About Erik
Erik Zimmerman serves as Of Counsel to the firm. He has practiced law for over 20 years and is licensed to practice in Michigan and Virginia. Erik is admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States and numerous other federal courts. Dating back to his high school years, Erik has pursued a career in law to make a difference concerning principles that he is passionate about, such as protecting the freedoms of speech and religion, and defending individuals, houses of worship, non-profit organizations, and other groups that further those causes. Prior to joining Gideon Law Group, Erik worked at the American Center for Law and Justice for over 19 years, beginning as a student law clerk and eventually becoming Senior Litigation Counsel. Erik has represented and assisted many clients in litigation as well as various non-litigation matters. He has written or co-authored numerous briefs filed with the Supreme Court of the United States and other federal and state appellate and trial courts, and he has presented arguments before the Supreme Court of Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and various trial courts. After graduating high school as the class Salutatorian, Erik received his Bachelor of Arts from Niagara University, where he finished first in his class and wrote an Honors Thesis entitled, “The Jurisprudence of the United States Supreme Court in Public Forum Cases.” He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Regent University School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Regent University Law Review and finished third in his class. Erik has written or co-authored articles that have been published in the Stanford Law and Policy Review, the Charleston Law Review, the American University Law Review, the Emory Law Journal, and the Regent University Law Review.
